Wednesdays in Brooklyn



Hop the 6 train downtown to brooklyn



Jump off the subway to call a car service... none available

Jump in a cab only to have the following conversation with the driver:

me: van dyke street please

cabbie: huh? wheres that...

me: BROOKlyn

cabbie: i dont know... where?

me: redhook son!

Then this guy ( the cabbie) tries to drop us off at some random spot..



anyways after using my iphone to show the dude how to get there i finally make it to the venue, which as luck would have it is buns.

9:30pm - Damien Dempsey starts his set,




for those who arent familiar Damien Dempsey is an Irish singer and songwriter who mixes traditional Irish folk stylism with contemporary lyrics making social comments on the positive and negative aspects arising from Ireland's Celtic Tiger society. (wikipedia)

He's also from Donaghmede, same place I was born in the northside of dublin, ire.

12:00 am - Time to skate, hit up the car service and grab a quick ride back to grand central... while the dudes drivin im thinkin to myself, wow its CRAZY that its gonna be 2009 and cabs dont have GPS!! You can get a cheap gps for like 60 dollars!! smh...
